During the SS15 fashion month the women’s wear collections echoed an eclectic range of themes and stories. Throughout many shows, though, there seemed to be subtle elements of the natural world that made an appearance. With a noticeable rise in the use of tulle from designers such as Burberry and Christopher Kane, frothy chiffons and nettings at Rodarte and Valentino and elongated, mountainous silhouettes at DKNY and Kenzo- there were environmental spirits that weren’t limited to the cliché spring florals.

Dior’s Couture garden party included green floral-printed plastic encrusted with embroidery. The collection screamed English countryside but was influenced by the chameleon nature of David Bowie.

Helen Lawrence showcased her SS15 collection as part of the Fashion East production. Her PVC scribbles and embroideries with wavering hems gave the image of hilly landscapes. Lawrence said the collection was presenting the “natural versus the perverted”.
